Amen.) 차제에 주님께서 제자들에게 기도를 가르치신 부분을 다룬 공과 하나를 여기에 함께 게제합니다. Jesus Teaches His Disciples to Pray Prayer is the most talked about and the least used force in the world. It is a confession of man’s helplessness without God and his complete dependence upon God. Prayer is the very heart of the Christian life. None can be a Christian unless he believes that there is a God, and that God hears and answers the prayers of his children. God wants his children to pray. He wants them to ask for things which they need. Prayer, however, is much more than asking. One cannot pray acceptably unless he learns to pray Jesus taught his disciples how to pray. Hindering Causes Before the disciple of Christ can pray acceptably all hindering cause need to be removed from his heart. It is not possible to grow a crop on farmland unless first the weeds and briers be removed. A Christian must be certain that his heart is prepared for prayer. Jesus first told his disciple that they should not be as the hypocrites are. Hypocrites loved to pray where they could be seen of men. Since to be seen was their purpose, God did not answer their prayer. They had their reward when they were seen. The disciples were told to pray in secret. It is not wrong to pray in public, but to be seen is never the purpose of prayer In public or in secret the Christian purpose is to pour out our hearts to God. Prayer is not to please men. It is to please God. God sees and knows all. He will reward even if men do not know of our prayers. The disciples were also admonished not to use vain repetitions. Heathen people thought they could inform their gods of their needs and weary them into granting their requests. Christ told his disciples that God already knows our needs. Our prayers are not to inform God. All repetition is not forbidden in prayer Christians ask again and again for things they want. They do not repeat words over and over again as if they were a magic formula. The prayer of the Christian arises from his trust in God and his dependence upon his word. This prayer is an intimate conversation of the soul with its creator. Christ cried out more than once for the same thing, but he did not use vain repetitions. (John 17:14-16) “After This Manner Pray Ye” The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. Man must be taught in order to do any great thing. The process of learning to pray is after this fashion: saying a prayer, praying a prayer, praying for self, prying for others, prying in Spirit or cording to the teaching of the Holy Spirit. From the time one utters his first childhood prayer until the Christian journey is over, this process of learning to Pray is going on. Christ gave the disciples a model prayer. They were not simply to repeat this prayer but were to pray after that manner. The brevity and scope of this prayer are at once apparent. It contains but fifty-five words (in the American Standard Version) and can be read in half a minute; yet it contains a brief statement of the Christian’s faith in God and covers the whole realm of acceptable prayer. This prayer first addressed God as our Father. It then petitions about things pertaining to God and closes with group of petitions about those offering the prayer. This prayer is a model with reference to directness and simplicity. The ideal prayer make known a request as simply and humbly as a child making request of his parents. Before referring to the personal needs, Jesus taught the disciples to pray that God’s name might be hallowed, that his kingdom might come to the earth. Christ’s kingdom has now come and we may fray only for it to be extended to other people “Hallowed be thy name.” God’s names honored when we use it with respect. His name is honored when we reverence his word and will. Only the devil, fallen angels, and sinful men fail to hallow the fame of God. “Thy kingdom come.” All Christians are now in Christ’s kingdom. (Col. 1:13) “Thy will be done.” God’s will for the universe-the sun, moon, planet etc.- is being done. This prayer is for human beings to surrender their wills to the will of God. We always subject ourselves to him. “Our daily bread” comes from God. We have a personal responsibility in obtaining the necessities of life, but without his help we could do nothing. “Forgive us” as we forgive others. An unforgiving heart cannot approach God. We must forgive those who sin against us. With malice and hatred removed from our hearts we can then ask forgiveness for our own sins. God must not abandon us to temptation or all will be lost. Without his sustaining care and providential help the temptations of 1ife would engulf us. The power, the kingdom, and the glory belong to God, he rules and reigns. We take our problems to him. Successful Prayer Prayer is always successful. God does not always give us what we ask. He always hears and understands. He gives us that which is best. We must always pray through Christ and to God. Prayer is not a means of altering the will of God. It is God’s will that we pray and it is his nature to bear and answer player. Prayer not only influences our attitude toward God- it changes our attitude toward another. One can hardly pray for without seeking to do him good. Christ as our great High Priest makes intercession for us. He presents our prayers to God in the correct form and spirit. Only with his help may we come boldly to throne of grace. In time of trouble and distress all turn to prayer. Their hearts go daily to his great throne and they receive strength and courage for the battles of life.
